Things to do

Whether you choose to stay in and enjoy the comforts of your cottage or head out and leave the cooking to someone else, there are plenty of options close by. Some of our recommendations include:

St. Peter's Brewery, Suffolk

Sisland Tithe Barn is situated in the Waveney Valley, close to the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk. In short, it’s a wonderful place to explore with a wide variety of walks ranging from short and scenic to long-distance footpaths.

Starting right from your doorstep (or by taking a short drive) you will be able to access some fantastic walks to suit any ability.

We’re also fortunate that the local area is a great place for cycling – the quiet lanes passing through picturesque villages and countryside.

Both Owl Barn and Orchard Barn have plenty of guidebooks and maps of walks and cycle routes. They also have secure areas in which to store bikes and access to water points should you need to wash them.

Our central location makes it easy to visit some beautiful historic houses and gardens – all just a short car journey away.

If you are a fan of the arts or prefer discovering local history in one of the many nearby museums, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Some of our favourites include:

Being just two miles from the Southern rivers of the Norfolk Broads and less than an hours drive from the RSPB reserve at Minsmere, it’s no wonder that our local area is a haven for birds and wildlife alike.

To really appreciate the natural beauty of the Broads, hire out a boat or join a guided boat trip. Alternatively, paddle a canoe through the smaller and quieter waterways. At Ranworth or Hickling Broad you may catch a glimpse of the elusive Swallowtail butterfly.

With miles of sandy beaches, travel out to Horsey to catch a sight of the seals. Or stay closer to home and discover Covehithe beach – one of the most remote in Suffolk but dog-friendly all year round.

Sisland Tithe Barn is also perfectly placed if you are heading to Latitude at Henham Park or the glorious First Light Festival in Lowestoft.

We’re also just a 30-minute drive away from the Norfolk Showground and even closer if you are planning to visit the annual Beccles Food and Drink Festival.

Whatever your reason for staying here, we can guarantee you’ll never be short of places to see or things to do.
